New Zealand’s number one brand for diaries and commercial stationery

Collins diaries have their roots back in 1819 when William Collins first published sermons and religious books in Glasgow, Scotland. His partner, the Rev Dr Chalmers, became a well-known name in New Zealand with Port Chalmers in Dunedin named after him.

Williams Collins went it alone in 1826 and started publishing bibles, dictionaries, school books, diaries and manufactured stationery.

In 1875, Collins Bros & Co was formed in Sydney to manufacture for the new colonies, and the first Collins diary was published for New Zealand in 1881. Collins set up its New Zealand branch in 1888. By 1908 Collins’ business was flourishing, and a seven-story building was built in Wyndham Street, Auckland.
